Summary: Recent researches on farming systems have provided exciting opportunities for improving input-use-effeciency, productivity, profitability and sustainability in farming systems. integrated farming systems (IFS) are recognized as a potential tool for transforming the poverty prone rural India to a prosperous India. This approach can minimize risk through enterprise diversification, helps in efficient use of farm resources by recycling among the enterprises and bring synergy among the interacting enterprises. FSR is of paramount importance for management of vast natural and human resources in our country to achieve higher rate of agricultural growth. Hence adoption of IFS approch is the need of the hour as method of 'low-input agriculture' to reduce costs and achieve sustainability in Indian agriculture.
