The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru (UAS-B) established through an Act of Government of Mysore (Karnataka) on June 1963 and inaugurated by Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then Vice President of India on August 21, 1964. The Gandhi Krishi Vignan Kendra (GKVK) main campus was inaugurated by Smt.Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India on July 12, 1969. The University has three functions viz., Teaching, Research and Extension. It has unique extension service providing technical information and imparting training programmes on the campus besides field extension activities in the villages.
