Th Textbook of Introductory Plant Nematology deals with both basic and applied aspects. Besides, glossary of nematological terms, an outline of classification of important phyto-nematodes, their common and scientific names, nematological centres in India and relevant references for further reading have been included. This second edition has been further improved by adding two more chapters - 'Nematological Techniques' and Entomo-pathogenic Nematodes'. The contents of the other chapters have been revised to incorporate the latest information and technologies. Many black and white illustrations have been replaced by colour photographs. This book has been divided into two portions: the first part deals with the basic aspects such as history, morphology, taxonomy, biology, ecology, pathology, principles of nematode control etc. The second part covers the applied aspects and deals with important nematode problems prevalent in India and is organized namatode-wise to avoid duplication. Some relatively newer concepts like pest risk analysis, Plant bio-security etc. have been added; and current status of nematode bio-type, biological control have been incorporated at appropriate place.
This book has essentially been designed for a two credit hour course for undergraduate students. Some portions have been slightly elaborated to suit the requirements of postgraduate students appearing in various competitive examinations.
