Thailand is located in the tropical monsoon climate region where the amount of rainfall is high but shortage of water occurs even in rainy season. Only 20% of total agricultural area is under irrigation, with rest constituting rainfed area, which has relatively lower crop yields, HIgh soil erosion and reduced soil productivity are some of the problems in the rainfed area
