Summary: Through green revolution in India was a remarkable achievement in the world, agriculture in the new millennium faces multiple challenges for producing more from less resource to feed the thronging population. The requirement of food grains is expected to increase by over 30% by 2050, which demands higher agriculture productivity by sustainable crop production practices. However, of late the declining growth rate of agriculture poses serious concern and further, moving away from the status of food security to nutritional security. The challenges in agriculture in the present day context have become multifaceted and more complex than ever before.
